Very nice analysis showing both potential and challenges of molepi in TB, having to work with samples from small fraction of TB episodes. Highly recommend the read, interesting data and thoughts for debate of targeted vs community-wide screening. But clearly a massive lift by the team, congrats!

In 2024, 68 million people were internally displaced by humanitarian crises, & are at increased risk of TB, the world's biggest infectious disease killer. Completely agree. Development and approval of this new TB compound took ~20 years and many millions of dollars. We needed to do ^much^ better at protecting bedaquiline from the start, not having to wait for a few years and hoping for the best. Having DST ready from the beginning is key.

Great to see CDC highlighting health disparities in #TB, but disappointed that gender - a key social determinant of health - isn't mentioned among "social, economic, and demographic factors". There's a clear disparity when estimated incidence in men is 65% greater than in women in 🇺🇲.

Men account for 37% of the global population but 55% of people who develop #TB annually. Men are less likely than women to have access to timely diagnosis and treatment, so 70% of people with undiagnosed infectious #TB are men. Among those who do access treatment, men generally have worse outcomes.
