We're all accustomed to Miller boldly lying constantly, but this lie in particular is really something, given the multiple videos from multiple angles that make it very clear Pretti was pepper sprayed + restrained + pistol whipped before shots went off.

The people who'll tell you today's murder victim in Minnesota shouldn't have turned up to a protest carrying a gun are the same people who said Kyle Rittenhouse was perfectly entitled to do the same thing.

To put a finer point on it: Republicans have embraced the “insurrectionist theory” of the Second Amendment—the notion that you have a constitutional right to stage an armed rebellion against the government if it becomes tyrannical. Now they’re lining up to say ICE can shoot any armed protester?

They shot an unarmed mother in the face in front of her wife then called her a “fucking bitch”. They kidnapped a five year old and used them as bait. They deported a two year old despite a judge’s orders. They maced, pistol whipped, and disarmed a nurse legally carrying then shot him nine times.

“Everyone should be allowed to carry a gun for their safety but the government can murder you in the street if you have a gun” is an incredible endpoint for the conservative moment

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.
