But let's not create or enhance an unvetted feel good white hero story & use a photo from actual journalism (well, NYT) about vulnerable people being brave to plug it.

This is not only not Minneapolis (it's Los Angeles), but it's from a June 2025 NYT article not about "ordinary people with no connection whatsoever to Mexico," but about people of actual Mexican heritage refusing to be afraid of celebrating where they & their family come from, despite the danger.
