We need academics & communicators to shed light on the health & human rights scandal of #SevereME. And to sound the alarm about #LongCovid. My illness has been progressive & I worry about teens now unable to dance like before but still able to study, embarking on a slow story of exponential loss…

The usury interest rate on #pwME energy usage is the problem. Budgeting (pacing) helps but it’s not a cure, it’s a coping strategy. We need medical treatments that remove whatever is siphoning off our energy, not gaslighting or denial of this energy theft. #GreatestMEdicalScandal

Also- and to speak to one point in the early chapters, my communication issue with my doctors is not that I speak metaphorically of my body, but that I know more about MCAS POTS & ME research than them. I studied humanities & lit. & don’t need more narrative theories of my illness. I need science.

#GreatestMEdicalScandal and #MEKills are the story. I’m privileged to have supportive family & friends and access to healthcare. My QOL is abysmal and I’m only moderate. What we need are biomedical treatments. Not discussions of trauma before we get more research funding.

My sister had cancer. There are many books by people who claim mind-body therapies healed them from cancer. My sister’s doctors treated her with chemo & radiation. Other therapies (whether helpful, stigmatizing, or both) were extra. With ME we only get the latter & dismissal. #GreatestMEdicalScandal

Rewatched Dispatches From Elsewhere. Genuinely enjoyed this show, especially when it came to the biggest, most audacious fourth wall break in TV history. It's so wild I'm not even sure if it can be called that. Plus, Andre Benjamin as Fredwynn was magnificent, and Eve Lindley shone as Simone .

We just finished the show Dispatches From Elsewhere, and it was just so inspiring & hopeful. ALL the feels, but overall it really left an impression of how important human connection is, and acceptance, and love. In books, I will suggest some classics: nearly the entirety of LM Montgomery’s works❤️

Am looking forwards to binging Pluribus when I switch my streaming over. Finishing up Freiren on Netflix, and also started watching Dispatches From Elsewhere out of curiosity. It’s a surreal show so far, but it has amazing trans representation and some of the episodes are so poignant it hurts. 😭

I spent £10k on therapy for trauma/CFS. Reduced my anxiety, but did zilch for leaky membranes of my mitochondria, my imbalanced immune system (I can provide the test results), nor my ME/CFS - likely from Long-EBV. ONLY drugs/supplements have helped and breath holds (for blood vessels, endophilia).

Dr Diane O'Leary has made an excellent comment on Emily Mendenhall's Substack, revealing she had a similar experience with Wessely. We agree that the world would be a better place if the silenced material could be published.
