Even worse when I am 1500 miles away to even attempt to do them is nearly impossible short of tagging her with a device such as your suggestion one final? Do you know the best devices some seem good but then have terrifyingly bad reviews?

BA.3.2 emerged in Nov 2024 after ~3 years of intrahost evolution with >50 new spike AA muts, but since then, it's changed very little. Could the mutagenic drug molnupiravir (MOV) galvanize BA.3.2 into pursuing new evolutionary paths? A new 89-mut BA.3.2 sequence hints that it could. 1/11

When you’re disabled, the holidays can be challenging. Many of us are alone, in pain or in the hospital. We’re excluded from celebrations because people don’t want a reminder of “sickness”. If you’re struggling tonight, please know you’ve got a community behind you

What are we even doing?! "There are sick children in the waiting room and patient care areas; we encourage you to leave any healthy children at home whenever possible." But your kid with flu or who needs stitches might also get measles. Or COVID.

I'm three weeks away from my six year anniversary of my only COVID infection. I usually sleep quite well, ~9 hours per "night," but I can only sleep between 6 am and 3 pm. Six years post-infection. I feel fortunate that I can sleep, though. I know many log haulers struggle with insomnia. I'd go mad.

I believe prisoners have rights. A right to have basic human needs met, like food, sleep, shelter, health —including mental health. War prisoners, criminals, ordinary people that were just looking for a way to feed and house themselves and their families, refugees locked up waiting for decisions.

Congratulate me. I braved local IGA on the eve of Christmas Eve in my cute-as-a-button Zimi Chrissy mask. And yes, it was ridiculously busy. But in good news, I found a a decent sized cauliflower (my goal) that didn't cost a kidney, & sugar & lemons to make jam from cherries our neighbour gave us.

It’s very interesting to me that some people are debating whether subclade K is “super-flu” or not. Whether it is intrinsically more severe… or the scenarios are due to host factors shall we say…

When you don’t accept that the work people do is important and requires specific knowledge and skills, then try and replace them with untrained cheaper substitutes or nobody, poor outcomes result Applies across the board in any profession but in health the poor outcomes are deadly

Health care systems across the western world are in crises but taking a step to try and stay healthy (or avoid further illness) is labelled as extreme? Bro a 14 year old boy did of pneumonia in Canada because the emergency room was overwhelmed and didn’t pay attention to him.

You should have spoken with Dr Akiko Iwasaki of Yale, a long Covid expert and other long Covid experts. you should have done enough research to know that over half of those with primary immune deficiency can’t make sufficient antibodies even if fully vaccinated and boosted so remain at high risk.

It’s really magical thinking to think the high risk are somehow now no longer high risk. Do you know how many high risk people got covid from medical facilities during needed medical treatment and then later died of covid? Far too many.

Yes, it’s called a “razors and blades” business model, where you sell the main item near or below cost, but lock people into expensive consumables (sometimes with DRM technologies) to recover the margins. It’s a fundamentally dishonest business model, because it hides the operating costs. (More)

I’ve come across an issue and would like to give a heads up. Just like printers have ink refills that cost more than the gadget, some commercial HEPA filters have filter replacements that can make your eyes water. Check replacement filter cost and availability before committing.

It’s not a refusal to re-enter society. It’s not shaping your life around Covid avoidance. It’s adaptation. It’s a desire to protect health. It’s being willing to accept that things change, and masking & clean air are the way forward. Mass death & disability is not normal
