Books, tea, music Covid aware Sometimes cute birds and animals Sydney
pinned post!
Finished a fantastic book late last night and now have that book hangover. Not ready to leave that world. But don't want to read something similar either. None of the current library books truly appeal. Picked up two new ones today as well. What do you do when this happens?

Trump is straight-up using the military to murder innocent people. He's not even trying to hide it. It's out in the open and it's being treated by almost every media outlet like a police shooting on page B-3, if that.

Wouldn't it be great if instead of sun shades we had solar panels set up in car parks. Australia really is slow in these things.

Was waiting for CSIRO to do a Met Gala thread, and they did not disappoint. Comparing outfits to moths. Turns out Australia has some stunning moths. Link to the FB post, which is sadly lacking alt text. Believe me when I say they found some perfect moth matches.

So my Vitamin D is looooooow. Not a complete surprise for someone with ME/CFS, it's happened before. And yes, usually picked up at the end of an Australian summer. Do wonder if that's added to the joint pain. Off to get supplements.

A previous reader of the new book club kit wore a very strong perfume. Trying to work out the least smelly book for my copy. It's all well and good using the library system until you get the smells. Thankful I've never struck smoke smells. ππ

I love all the replies I am seeing about this, people sharing memories of reading with their kids. The special voices, the hugs, the 'one more chapter'. I follow the best people. ππ

Feeling old. A song playing on the radio that the announcer did not realise was a cover of an Australian ( Sydney*?) classic. Love this take, have played it multiple times already. *surely everyone from a certain period in Sydney has a tale of at least one Oxley at a party?

Going to gigs. Coming home, dumping clothes in the bathroom and then showering and washing my hair at stupid o'clock so I didn't breathe in more smoke. And yes, the times you didn't do that you noticed the difference.

I regularly swim in the Parramatta River. Less frequently now in the Lane Cove River. Always wait a few days after rain, always check pollution levels on government sites before venturing in. Lucky to be able to do it.

Argh, seems The Toilet Wars have hit Australia. Honestly, I don't care. As long as a public toilet is clean and well maintained. I have actually wanted to take photos (from the outside, people!) of some of the fantastic new blocks in parks. Individual cubicles, hand basins outside. Visible and safe.

Watching the documentary on SBS on Greek Milk Bars and Cafes. Interesting stuff. The racism of 1950s Australia was horrible (detention for a 'smelly' sandwich) And it is infuriating to think this is being stoked again today.
