The most extraordinary leaf I ever saw was a titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum) shooting out of the earth like a rocket in the Sumatran rainforest. This one is a bud: up, up, up it goes, and when it's ready, it will unfurl like an enormous leafy parasol.
