I understand that people wanna support Mamdani. But he didn’t make good on his promised library budget. And those organizing to rightfully hold him accountable deserve to do so and all benefit from their efforts. Like Mamdani said, “Politics is not something you have, it’s something that you do.”

I have nothing against the Mayor. I quite like him as a human being. He has a tough job that he sought to have. I am an organizer and he is one of the people that can deliver what we want. So we will continue to organize and we will demand what we want and need.

This is what happens every year. The mayor slashes the budget, the public gets mad, the mayor resets to a flat budget and gets to claim victory. This is not a win. We are well below the 0.5% budget that libraries need and that Mamdani promised.

It reverses the Mayor's preliminary budget cuts. HOWEVER, it does not meet the 0.5% benchmark AND it does not keep up with inflation
