In my address to the JuliaCon community, I shared why itâs such an amazing time to be in healthcare - decades-long problems solved in a short time-frame by modern medicine and the whole gamut of basic to clinical research. But for this to work, the NIH needs to focus on science, not politics.

The media & the right made SF a proving ground for harm reduction - which was never even implemented at scale - and claimed rising ODs (from the emergence of fentanyl) meant harm reduction âdidnât work.â Since cutting harm reduction, deaths are up 50%. Cause harm reduction works & policing doesnât.

As clearly unscientific as this is, it reveals the belief system underpinning the entire eugenics-aligned American wellness movement, which is that good and trustworthy people CAN'T get sick or harbor disease. So, if you're sick, guess you're not good or trustworthy.

Should you power servers or refrigerators? Patients die preventable deaths every day in low-resource settings due to a lack of the basics (drugs, nursing care, sterile conditions), not a lack of advanced AI. We need to learn from Paul Farmer, and prioritize foundations over hype
