I’d like to point out that your objection to the name COGE will not blunt its impact at all, but your incessant quote dunks will spread the messaging much further than it would’ve gone otherwise. Not a mistake! You’re a cog in the marketing machine. Clever guy.

Too many people still confuse Software Engineering with writing code. Code is the artifact. Software Engineering is understanding the problem, making tradeoffs, designing the system, reducing complexity, and deciding what shouldn't be built. No amount of 'vibe coding' can help you with this.

excellent work with our records, we were able to add

#Starfinder
as officially supported systems for your
rpg.actor
profile! Also added new system tags to sort different
#TTRPG
genres and other UI enhancements. Welcoming any feedback on the character sheets!

I disagree with Danny here on a technicality. If Zohran’s teams go In and Out and win the Double-Double (and watching the Knicks win from the cheap seats makes it Animal Style) that makes him de facto Governor of California, and we can cancel our current election.

From Bluesky’s work on permissions data, to adding e2ee to activitypub, there are a lot of projects working on private data, converging towards something that’s roughly Matrix-shaped. But the dynamics underneath turned out to be stranger than I thought

: if you really wanted online political influence, you’d be making vertical video. you’d be learning how to do little booty dances while talking about political theory. you’d be mastering doing BTS fan-cams while talking about anti-capitalism

Where I ended up is that if we consider the term "hallucinate" in its pre-LLM sense, "the network is hallucinating 100% of the time and should be treated accordingly" is a more useful posture for an operator than "yeah it hallucinates sometimes."

I grew up doing a lot of outdoors programs led by gender-diverse hippies, and it is notable how many genuinely competent outdoors leaders deeply loathe Boy Scout troops because they’re so often led by over-confident jackholes who are way too into gender roles.

I'll say it again, one of the worst things this rampant push to cram "generative AI" into everything has done is make people suspect bright kids of cheating when they're just nerdy or bookish or neurodivergent, sanding down their unique edges to fit into people's lowered, homogenized expectations.

Yeah some unsolicated hot takes in no particular order 1. React is better than everything that came before it and I haven't seen anything do it better 2. Hooks are genius 3. If you've never done frontend on a moderately large app, you probably underestimate frontend engineering
