So many policies meant to improve conditions for ECRs end up with a penalty for the ECR. My university makes us do this too, issue open calls for projects designed by a PhD or postdoc candidate even when named in grant 🤦‍♀️ Best case scenario is wasted time for candidate & other ECRs who apply 🤬
