While it is good to tell people that alt text makes things more accessible, the strategy that works to make things more accessible is to *incentivize* accessibility. So if you phrase it as "you're helping yourself" rather than "you're helping potential strangers," you get better results.

I know I don't have to tell any of you this because you all already know this, but when you search on Bluesky that search includes the alt text in posts. So accurate and succinct alt text actually does increase your reach here.
