They've been talking for hours

There is a real art to the needledrop. It can be just as major to the film as the characters. When a film is full of needledrops that don't fit the story or make the scene weaker, it makes the film as a whole feel weaker.

The thing you gotta keep in mind is that Mel Brooks had his producing credit removed from Lynch's The Elephant Man and Cronenberg's The Fly because he didn't want those films to be mistaken for his comedies. He wanted those films to soar and [gasp] be taken seriously. He had real love for the game.

It's so funny how every interview with the people who made The Transformers: The Movie has them go, "uhhhh yeah we were all just trying to make a toy commercial and we didn't realize kids would be emotionally affected by watching their favorite toys get murdered and die on screen"

I love how someone did this as a gag comic but pretty much everyone who read it was like "This gets to the essence of who Batman is better than anything."
