Political violence can only make situations worse. However I’m not above some pleasure at the karma of a man who made a living saying hateful things getting shot in that place on his body where his voice emanated. Hopefully he survives (he won’t). But he’ll most assuredly never speak again

I bought two loaves of bread from a froofy bakery for 20 bucks - one sourdough and one ciabatta - and after a couple of meals, it was worth every cent like after having ciabatta with warm salted butter i came closer to an understanding of how civilization formed around bakeries

3 years ago, I had a patron come to the library and tell me they wanted to get into reading and didn’t know where to start. We talked for a bit, figured what he liked, then found a few titles. Now every summer he comes back and we find him a ton of books. It’s a wonderful ritual :)

JHJ is one of the most underrated writers of our time and if you don't want to see him in conversation with C.S. Humble, you're oxygen-deprived. I wish it wasn't in Houston, but it's an imperfect world.
