Ariana and the Elder Codex I was *expecting* this to be another Metroidvania, but it's honestly more of a 2D spectacle fighter. ...Which I find even less appealing; it looks great in screenshots, but there's too much visual noise during play, it's very overwhelming, I don't like it.

Fallen Tear: The Ascension And *another* Metroidvania, you really can't blame me for feeling genre fatigue. This one's selling itself on the art-style and full voice-acting. I did actually enjoy this demo a lot, like I remember really getting into it - but still: Genre fatigue. I'm at my limits.

Deadhaus Sonata Why did I play AI-slop? Glad you asked! It's obviously because this is DENIS DYACK's game which predictably sucks donkey dick and deserves to be ridiculed. Looks like shit, plays like shit, crashed two times and the Steam description is just Dyack whining about being irrelevant. 🤪

Witchspire ...Okay, this one doesn't count, I only played this for five minutes, and pretty much only to confirm whether or not I really get nothing out of survival crafting games. ...And, uhh, yeah, spoilers: I get nothing out of survival crafting games, revelation of the fucking century here.

1348 Ex Voto The sword lesbian game. Finally. Took way too long to get one. I like the setup of a somewhat realism-ish (but not simulation sicko levels) medieval knight errand experience, but it's a bit too heavy on the "cinematic Sony Prestige Title"-aesthetic for me. Still good though.

DIVE or DIE - Children of Rain Lovecraftian 2D underwater exploration scavenging city management survival sim. That is a lot of different labels all at once, this one's certainly unique, I give it that. Wasn't blown away by it, but it's fairly compelling. Looking forward to the full game.

REPLACED I'm very lukewarm on this, especially compared to everyone else. The "cinematic 2D platformer"-experience is largely defined by being all in on aesthetics which makes the level-design incomprehensible. And Arkham Asylum counter-spam combat got old 15 games ago. I 100% don't need this.

CROAK I posted about this demo before, but also, it kicks ass, so I may as well repeat myself. I can already see this become a future GDQ staple, and also be a hit among Kaizo fanatics in general. Just some nice, tricky platforming.

Ex Sanguis Roguelite turn-based tactics game with a striking black-white-red colour scheme. Immediately reminiscent of Othercide from the same devs, but faster and more aggressive. ...Very rough demo though; I'm looking forward to the full game, but I get the feeling it's gonna take a while.

GRIME II Fairly competent. ...Which is also what I thought about the original GRIME's demo but ***back then*** I wasn't really into Souls-like Metroidvanias, like, at all. So what I'm getting from this sequel is that I should probably play the first GRIME, after all.

Dungeons of DUSK ...Yeah, it's DUSK but as a Dungeon Crawler, what you see is what you get, the name is both set-up and punchline at once. As far as spinoffs go, this is totally fine, but it's too basic for my tastes, Etrian Odyssey this isn't.

Darkhaven It's Diablo but with a jump button! Whoa! ...I guess this is alright as far as Diablo-clones go, but I really don't need another one, like, ever again. With or without a jump button.

DINOBLADE ...Yeah, I downloaded this only because of the "Iron Pineapple must've covered this, right?"-vibes. Which he did (www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO2V...), and now I know this is by a Sucker Punch animator who made this mostly as a meme. ...And, well, in that context, it's honestly pretty fun.

Altered Alma A pixel Metroidvania that simply didn't grab me. I don't know if this is really the game's fault or just a result of me being really really spoilt. But there's been so many excellent indie Metroidvanias that I no longer got patience for anything except the absolute best. 😐

Horripilant The dungeon crawler clicker idle game with an amazing crunchy "8 bits are a luxury we can't fucking afford"-artstyle. I see the vision and it was "fun" for an hour for the same reason every other clicker game is "fun" - and there's the problem, I have grown to *loathe* clicker games. 🙃

Denshattack! Was looking forward to this - until I played the demo. ...And that hurts, because I still think this rules. Yet I just cannot deal with it; the aesthetic is amazing in trailers - but playing it myself, it's a horrible strain on my eyes. I WISH I could play this, but I can't.

Forbidden Solitaire Solitaire meets gory dungeon crawling meets... the moral panic surrounding DOOM in the 90s? What?! Yeah, this is easily one of the big winners for me, this game fucking slaps, I was *upset* when the demo ended. April can't come soon enough, this one is a must-have.

Australia Did It Been looking forward to this since announcement, I already know I wanna play this so the demo is more to figure out HOW MUCH I wanna play it. And... Yeah it's good. But it's also *a lot* at once; tactics, tower defense, turn-based, real-time, woof. A bit overwhelming, honestly.

HOLSTIN One of the big demos that everyone else already praised to death. Isometric 2D pixel-art Survival Horror with RE4-esque shooting. ...Yeah, I totally see the vision. It's not actually very appealing to me, but I'm also not at all surprised it got so much attention.

I completely slacked off on actually posting the Steam Next Fest demos I played last month. ...And in some ways that's not even a bad thing because I continued playing even more demos afterwards and may as well dump all my impressions now.
