it was very easy to see a future of "trump can fire everyone in the government via unexplained shadow docket decisions but the second a dem enters office all of trump's appointees are protected by humphrey's executor" if it's already functionally overturned for trump, make it explicit

my hot take on the humphrey's executor news is that it's probably good to get them on the record with formally overturning it it's obviously a terrible decision in the making but at least this way the next dem president can fire everyone he's appointed immediately

one of the nastier games the supreme court likes to play with the shadow docket is "we haven't formally overturned this but we've functionally allowed republicans to ignore it while stringently applying it to dems" I'm sure they'll find new ways to play the game but this makes it harder

A white friend and I had a discussion about politics. Her ideology is left. HOWEVER, she talked about how she was once "apolitical". I had to tell her how privileged she was able to be "apolitical" at any point in her life. That was a privileged luxury as a Black woman I have never had.

Also, despite the rhetoric tossed around about this race by people in other time zones, people of IL-09 being represented by a member of Congress who’s done civil disobedience wouldn’t be new, because of Jan Schakowsky it’s what we expect.
