A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE is riveting, chilling, and unsettling. Relentlessly paced thriller in a RASHOMON-esque dressing that plays out the government dealing with a nuclear missile headed towards Chicago in several different ensemble perspectives across three chapters. Loved it.

GOOD FORTUNE is the anti-capitalist comedy we need now. Incredibly hilarious and completely unsubtle in what it has to say in the best way possible Keanu Reeves hasn’t been this funny in a long time. It has a classic comedy feel to it, the kind that don’t get made these days.

THE SMASHING MACHINE may seem like a conventional sports movie without the dramatic peaks and valleys that a movie worthy athlete would endure, but I think that’s the point. It shines a light on two UFC fighters who were just normal guys before the sport had reached its pinnacle.

Because you deserve nice things, one of my favorite wholesome videos. Today we celebrate Madeline Kahn on the 83rd year of her birth with her duet of Sing After Me with Grover. I honestly do not want to be friends with you if Madeline or Grover or Madeline and Grover together do not make you smile.

My cure to the male loneliness epidemic is to take away every boy’s phone and young man’s phone, then force them to get together to play Goldeneye and Mario Party in a basement for hours on end. Bingo bango, problem solved.

I just watched JASON X for the first time. This movie sucks so good. Just the stupidest, funniest piece of shit. Feels and looks like it takes place in the same universe as Britney Spears’ music video for Oops! I Did It Again. I loved every minute of this braindead movie.

At Sarah Sherman’s Live in the Flesh show at The Vic in Chicago, her biggest yet, and the pre-show has clips of crazy movie gore and behind the scenes practical gory effects from them. Already paying off! Also, look at this amazing hat!

Bob Iger, RAPTUROUSLY thanked by "Andor" writer Dan Gilroy at the Emmys, is on the spot to prove if giving a green light to a TV show about an encroaching authoritarian regime that attempts to hijack all notions of truth means he watched and understood the show, or just likes making money.

Nexstar, the largest owner of ABC stations, has business before Carr's FCC: Not only do they need him to bless their $6.2 billion merger with Nexstar, but they also need him to relax the national ownership cap that prevents them from getting bigger.

If you’re rich and not a coward, this is what you’d refer to as a “market opportunity” to dominate a media ecosystem that’s about to be covered in grotesque government slop. To be a pop of color in a sea of beige will be easier than ever. People will flock to it. You gotta be a little brave, though.

SNL should run a normal show, with the slight addition that every sketch has three or four men dressed up like ICE agents and FCC officials standing in the background looking menacing. Maybe they disappear Colin Jost in the middle of Weekend Update too.

it is really important for news outlets to be clear (unlike the nyt here) that Kimmel was suspended not because of some grassroots backlash but because ABC caved to threats from the head of the FCC

The best thing Kimmel could do right now is do what the Right does when it is deplatformed: replatform yourself on another service, go live, and dunk on the administration harder than ABC would ever have allowed him to. Go full South Park on them. Do an hour on Patel lying under oath about Epstein.

Arts criticism is vitally important, whether it's for TV, movies, comic books, or anything else. It's more than a binary good/bad; it's a way of contextualizing the emotional, political, or other themes of a piece as well as laying out connections and comparisons through deep historical knowledge.

If you're as angry as I am about how our trans brothers & sisters were treated this week, remember that not all of them got the loving parents we did & end up on the streets. Maybe today is a great day to donate to a local shelter & give trans kids a roof over their heads and the love they deserve.

Political violence is bad. That doesn’t mean anyone has to feel sorry for the death of a man who actively tried to stop the prevention of more people dying at the hands of guns and had no problem taking away the rights of others for no good reason other than bigotry. And that’s putting it kindly.
