The reason Sound Transit 3 expansion exists at all is because of Seattle voters' enthusiasm. And yet all three proposals cut back Seattle lines 🤮

3. This year, they cut future sales taxes on services (also paid a bit more by the rich, though not as progressive as the other cut), costing billions more, 4. They wouldn't give Sound Transit the long term debt capacity it needs. This leaves us with options like this.

1. They created a governance structure that gave local politicians the ability to meddle through the board and permitting rackets, making projects much more expensive and less likely to reach riders. 2. They cut Sound Transit's most progressive funding source a few years ago, costing billions.

One of my big takeaways from today: if we had not spent additional time planning Ballard Link, and instead had a design at the same level as West Seattle right now, the conversation would be completely different and we'd likely have a clear path to get to Market Street.

People that don't golf dramatically overestimate the cost of being a golfer who plays public courses. It's among the most affordable sports and also one of the most accessible to different abilities and levels of athleticism. Attack private courses all you want, but public golf is for the people!
