Just in case you thought we were finish with measles because you haven't heard about it in a while, I'm just here to remind you that measles case continuing to rise. There are 1514 confirmed cases for 2025 so far. This is about 5.5 times more than the cases in 2024, and 26 times more than 2023.

A lot of people think that every international student admitted means one fewer spot for domestic students, when the opposite is more likely true - the tuition revenue international students bring allows public universities to provide substantial discounts to domestic students, improving access.

Here is a plot in terms of PROJECTS rather than dollars. I am using projects rather than awards so that projects that received supplements do not get double-counted. While the FY25 curve is improving, it seems that the number of funded projects will drop by 3000-4000 compared with FY24.

I know this isn't the news right now. But I have some updated info on Covid vax availability. Several states where CVS/Walgreens weren't offering them or required Rx 1.5 wks ago now have them without Rx because of state officials' actions. But still 13 states where CVS and/or Walgreens require Rx.

This is me, one of those 211. My A1 R01 renewal would have been funded otherwise, and I was even initially told they planned to fund it. Now very unlikely. No more chances with this one. We had so many good things going-how do we keep moving forward? A question many of us will be asking.
