This rebuild is now the fastest moving, major project in the country. And we plan to keep it that way.

When they said clearing the channel would take 11 months, 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝟭𝟭 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀. When experts said a 70% design-build could take 5-7 years, 𝘄𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟰 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀. When forecasts showed job losses at the Port, 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱–𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀.

Federal employees – including TSA agents – are showing up for work every day, despite not being paid. Maryland will not let them suffer because Washington isn’t doing its job.

March 26, 2024 will forever be etched in our memories as the day we lost the six hardworking men who were simply doing their jobs on the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

I pray for our service members and their families. And I pray that our national leadership honors their promises.

Tomorrow marks two years since the Dali struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge and I am proud to report on the progress that we are seeing. Not only did we reopen the channel in 11 weeks, when people said it would take 11 months.

Today, I announced the authorization of a second payment in the state's Federal Shutdown Loan Program to offer financial relief to impacted federal workers in Maryland.

For the fourth year in a row, we’ve made strategic cuts to our state’s budget – while still pushing forward on our policy priorities: investing in public safety and public schools, working to make everything from energy to homes more affordable, and making our economy more competitive.🛠️

I’ve been in touch with local leadership throughout the state to make sure jurisdictions are getting what they need to respond to storm damage. Thank you to @mdmema.bsky.social, emergency response crews, and law enforcement partners for their work, and Marylanders for heeding warnings.

I have declared a State of Preparedness ahead of significant risk for widespread, severe storms and a heightened tornado threat across the state tomorrow, with the Department of Emergency Management coordinating readiness efforts across state government.

The allegations surrounding the conditions at the George H. Fallon Federal Building are disturbing and merit full investigative cooperation. We cannot stand by as ICE and the federal government continue to dodge accountability for their cruel and unlawful immigration enforcement actions.
