I like to remind people about lifetime limits and the refusal of insurers to sell coverage to people with preexisting conditions. The ACA has issues. But those 2 things alone make it worth saving and fixing.

Warming waters cause corals to “bleach” when these organisms expel symbiotic algae that provide nutrients, oxygen & vibrant colors. The latest global bleaching event - researchers estimate >84% of the planet's coral ecosystems have been affected since Jan 2023 - has made it clear the crisis is now.

feels like the "why no song of the summer this year?' and the "why did TS's album flop?" questions are related 1. the chaotic political/econ context & all the noise it makes in ppl's lives puts their attn elsewhere 2. weird music is doing fine (Kpop DH), but gulf grows btw it & bland chart toppers

The attack on the synagogue in Manchester and the attack on the mosque in Sussex are completely horrifying. Violence anywhere is terrible of course but it takes a certain tenor when it’s clear that people are being targeted because of their identity. and criminalizing protest won’t fix it. like ??

I want our young people to know that there is a path forward, that a better world is possible. I don't want them to give up, to become cynical. They deserve to be young and full of optimism. They are owed a world that supports and sustains optimism.

I am just going to keep posting that the TX governor recently pardoned a political murderer. The dude texted "I'm going to shoot protestors", then went and shot a Black Lives Matter protester. He was convicted in a jury trial. Hard to find a more blatant example of celebrating political violence.

Anyone proposing that an official be allowed to revoke the passport of a citizen for criticizing *this* country would be rightly regarded as batshit insane and deeply hostile to this country's laws and traditions. Proposing that they can do that if we criticize some *other* country? Fuck. That.

What they’re doing is refusing to talk about what really matters in this equation: power Discourses about debate pretend there are fundamental power symmetries between the two positions and the people impacted by them. They ignore the power asymmetry induced by white supremacy. Civility is a cover

The only prayer that matters when it comes to the regular and repeated murder of American children while they are at school is the kind of prayer that is taking action, the kind of prayer that materially fights for the living, the kind of prayer that says "never again" and means it, from MN to Gaza.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE. This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined. It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
