The pub where I play pool has a TAB where you can bet on procedurally generated CG greyhounds. (Basically betting on a dice roll, go figure) So I got the idea of a companion mobile app where kids can rescue the virtual dogs, play with them and pet them, and that made me sad for non-existent dogs.

If anyone was still pretending this isnât just about excluding trans kids from public life, the Trump administration just opened a Title IX investigation into a Maine school district because a trans student is on a *co-ed* cheerleading squad.

Three months ago Iâd have agreed, but I think now everyone who wants to code or⊠whatever else AI can actually do will shrug and move to Gemini (probably Anthropic folds at some point and Google gets Claude Code in the fire sale), and everyone who wants an AI âfriendâ will unzip and switch to Grok.

Half of me wants to recommend the "Behind the Bastards" episode on Scott Adams, then the other half slaps me and says "It's two episodes totaling over three hours, who's going to listen to that?" and then the third half whispers "âŠyou did."

That affects people's mental models about women, y'know? It gets referenced in future talks. "Remember that guy who got kicked out" becomes shorthand that speaks to how real groups of people are thought of. Also it comes from a guy who calls men men but women feeeeeemales. That speaks to motivation

Which is why stuff like the Online Safety Act is coming from the same people. Women's bodily autonomy is icky, so a sex worker having a debit card is dangerous to children but a man having a machine that makes CSAM openly is okay because it's a man controlling women's bodies not ourselves.
