After the NACC cleared Morrison et al of corruption because "hey, a politician wouldn't lie!" and "he's too stupid to read" - it's worth reading why Royal Commission concluded that their conduct is a corruption issue worthy of referral

I'm not a commodities guy but I don't know how many more events like this the markets will be willing to overlook because Trump occasionally shouts, "nearly done!" at a reporter from his golf cart.

every new restaurant in every major city is either called Thistle+Thorn and thinks adding turmeric to brussel sprouts makes them worth $30 or is called Burger Bitch and has a neon sign in the window that says “im gonna fuck a hamburger”

It's kinda wild that they invented a tool for match fixing and then expanded it to insider trading and then manipulating government policy and apparently no one will do anything about this service.

The grovelling is an engagement tactic. The tool needs to regain your trust so you will continue to use it, so it has been trained to simulate being sorry and promising to do better in the future, even though it's fundamentally incapable of delivering either.

Today in odd weatherman legal wranglings: After a Florida meteorologist was fired from WINK Fort Myers, his non-compete clause prevented him from reporting on weather in the Southwest Florida market. He's got his own page with 1.2M followers now... but legally can't label any city in SW Florida

My largely abandoned blog is generated by a decade+ old scala site builder I wrote called 'fishbowl'. Its dependencies are so out of date it's basically unmaintainable so I prompted Claude to re-implement it in Kotlin, but forgot to tell it what to name the new app. It picked 'koi'.

It took two hours for Albanese to declare support for the latest US/Israeli war crimes. How long has it taken the Labor Party to consider raising the rate? To halting fossil fuels? To seriously address the racism to First Nations and Muslims? The ALP in your head is long dead.
