This video camera study showed that less than 5% of people on bikes broke traffic laws while riding bikes, yet 66% of people did so while driving. And perhaps even more importantly, if you REALLY want even MORE bike-riders to obey laws, build more protected bike infrastructure. Via

A brief and frustrated anti-AI rant and why you can't draw like me, and I can't like you: Back in art school, the sickest thing was seeing everyone's art on critique day and you could always tell whose was whose because of the way someone rendered their lines. You became so incredibly familiar -

Today Microsoft moved all its GitHub copilot subscribers to token-based billing. If you want to see what happens when people have to pay the actual costs of AI, the day is finally here. It's obvious that every customer sees the deep, meaningful value and isn't angry at all.

PSA: Bluesky's new auto-tagging moderation stuff is a disaster. Disable it. Go into Settings on the Bluesky site and enable adult content and set everything to Warn at most, which makes posts opt-in. Hide just vanishes posts. Then go into Advanced/Bluesky Mod Service and do the same on everything.

My FFXIV WoL is just Shinra Middle Manager from the FFVII Remake trilogy. Shortly upon leaving the Gold Saucer after the events of Rebirth, Shinra Middle Manager was struck by a delivery truck out in Corel and woke up on a carriage in Eorzea, saving the realm until the next FFVII Remake game is out.

maybe you don't believe in the effectiveness of a boycott but consider: it is the easiest thing in the world to *not* write about a game. there are one billion other games released every second. basically the smallest hill in the world to die on.

Genuinely, this concern about AI is one of the reasons why I think having friction in video games is good and why it's increasingly important to have games that simply exist instead of catering to our expectations. Reposting this message from Kojima about "pre-digested" art:
