Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead. I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.

More people should be excited about THE OUTFOXIES! At the very least, because it's a pre-Smash platform fighter and Dweeb the chimp is cooler than DK because he has a top hat and can use a rocket launcher. But yeah, previously arcade-only so it's great that it's finally coming to console tomorrow!

After LttP it feels like we stopped seeing illustrations like these, where the mystery and danger of the world was the focus. The artwork became much more character-driven. Seems to line up with the series' shift in design and perhaps general trends. (Unsurprisingly, I like the original games best!)

Blood is just so dang fun and memorable. The dynamite is probably my second favorite FPS weapon after Doom's super shotgun in terms of sheer satisfaction... one of those weapons that you get yourself in trouble with because you try to use it even when you have better options. 🧨

FF1 NES redraw I made for fun.

Part of me feels like Dark Souls wouldn't have caught on if the first game had difficulty settings. It'd be "cheap", "pointless", etc. Arcade games had a relatively granular difficulty option via credit feeding and it played a big part in them written off as "button mashers"/"quarter munchers".

I started messing around with reworking some of the tilesets in MADHOUSE and added a lot more detail in environments, but I'm having a hard time deciding if I like the original (left) style more, or the remastered (right) style? Which do you think works better? #pixelart

Keep an eye out for Scrubbin' Trubble by @oddobject.zone, directed by Tyriq from the UFO 50 team. Been testing Solo mode - Tyriq is brilliant at making turn-based RLs with arcade game pacing and the cleaning theme is super cute and satisfying. Love blasting grime/foes with suds as a Frothbarian.

This thing took so much work, from so many people - RPGs have so many little working parts, and we did so much to try to make this world feel alive. The team is just vibrating right now, seeing how this all goes, but for now it's great to just have it out there, in people's hands.
