Since people keep asking, Localizers are currently working on (since early November) Spanish French German Italian Brazilian Portuguese The goal is to have those in for release, but if they aren't ready+tested by then they'll come after.

Took a look at The End is Nigh's control rebinding menu and lmao we definitely forgot to pretty that one up before release

most annoying part about control rebinding menus is "what happens if they fuck up their binds so much that they cant navigate back to the menu to reset to defaults" on kb+m its fine, I can just lock left click and ESC as un-rebindable. on gamepad what do you do?

One of the lessons that I remember taking some time to learn at the start of my professional gamedev career was that if I'm hiring an artist or musician, it can't be because I want them to take what's in MY brain out and put it into the game.

I liked the battle royale structure for shooter games. I couldn't care less about the extraction shooter structure. It's stupid how multiplayer shooters find like one new game mode a decade and then milk only that until people are tired of it.

I think nintendo got too scared when "some people didn't like the backtracking in prime 1 & 2" and ended up cutting out like the entire defining aspect of the series in future installments. fundamentally misunderstanding why people like these games

just a pet peeve with the metroid prime 4 controls. B is jump when you're in first person mode. when you switch to morph ball, suddenly X is jump instead. because B is boost ball. Why not make B be jump there too and just make X be boost ball? why have jump be inconsistent

My least favorite type of video is "animal confused by optical illusion" and then it's an illusion that literally only works from the camera's perspective

Part of me feels like Dark Souls wouldn't have caught on if the first game had difficulty settings. It'd be "cheap", "pointless", etc. Arcade games had a relatively granular difficulty option via credit feeding and it played a big part in them written off as "button mashers"/"quarter munchers".

random question: did any SNES era games manage to do a vertical or 4-way split screen for multiplayer? (specifically when each screen has a moving camera). I know plenty did horizontal split screens (cause thats a lot easier with how scanline rendering worked)

I think the funniest part of the Metroid Prime 4 trailer is the bullet point "Teamwork is key if any of you hope to escape the planet alive." (re: npcs) which I think is just like, kind of the most antithetical metroid thing you could possibly say

if you release an analog stick it actually has quite a lot of bounce in the other direction on the way back. beyond a reasonable deadzone. I'm not sure if I'm expected to compensate for this at the game level or not... (video at 1/8th speed slowmo)

I think the issue I have with the art style of the halo remake is that it changes the vibes too much. I remember Halo as being full of brutalist concrete structures. The remake says "that was a tech limitation, they were meant to be shiny sci-fi metal instead"
