A family member has Poppy (the Pugzu) who is very dearly rescued & loved , my friend (& work colleague for nearly 20 years) does incredible felting in her spare time & I asked her if she could do Poppy , so that I can gift it to the family member. JFC .. she sent me the photo , it’s incredible .

We came up with the concept of being a ‘hyena vegetarian’ today: someone who doesn’t buy meat but will, for example, eat cooked burgers left over at the end of a barbecue.

My subconscious must have remembered @nicmiller.bsky.social talking about tepache as yesterday I was sure I could use pineapple skin & core for *something*. And now I have a jar of tepache fermenting, I hope!

I tried to be a good citizen - had a volunteering day at our local hospice but they had to cancel it. Unfortunately I missed the internal message telling me so turned up for it! Fortunately it’s very close altho I’m not thrilled about being back at work today. Minimal meetings though, result!

I’ve been looking forward to my lunch since yesterday! Green lentils and quinoa cooked with a stock cube and some white miso, half an avocado with lime juice, the final Asian-style slaw with extra sesame seeds and baked salmon with togarashi sprinkled on. It’s lush!

Younger daughter & I found these fossilised crinoid rock stars (segments of the ‘stem’ of Jurassic feather stars/sea lilies, related to starfish & sea urchins) in the gravel on the edge of a lake nr Peterborough UK. She used them to make an ammonite:

Cutting out wheat has coincided with me wanting to up my fibre (thanks for the nudges from @hassinator.bsky.social and @southlondongirl.bsky.social) and I am loving what I’m eating. And my digestive system is very happy.

Easy dinner tonight of loaded nachos. Already had the mince element in the freezer from a few weeks ago. Had to take a deep breath as this is how I burnt myself badly a couple of weeks ago! I did use a different (and smaller) pan.

I’ve had to go wheat free for the time being but the upside yesterday was getting our local pub to make me an off-menu lunch of loaded bratwurst (should’ve been inna bun) on fries 🥰🤤😘
