it's kinda weird that all the software i am expected to use for work are all written by distributed teams, go, python, postgres, linux, chrome, k8s etc and despite being told "the best teams work in an office together" i don't know of any software i use that's actually written that way

okay gang i figured out how to make git work including the auto deployment of pghrt.diy meaning that now it's as easy as a click of a button to publish an edit. happy to say to all software engineers who were mad at me that i get it now. it's very satisfying. plus version control actually did help.

another small addition, but here is a little service that will give you both the text from an image and generate a perceptual hash (using Facebook's PDQ algorithm) of a given image. more to come, will also be adding the storage of flagged images and the matching of flagged images w/ osprey

cool fact, my self-hosted PDS is ~500 microseconds away from my apartment over the internet and that PDS is ~500 microseconds away from its S3 endpoint where my blobs live this is compared to the ~67-75ms jump from my apartment to bsky's US-east PDSs the site is a LOT snappier for me now :)

im rebuilding and simultaneously open sourcing our automated moderation stack. these are the types of things that every bluesky fork or non-bluesky atproto application is going to need, and i really want to see those tools available

there's some more to do here in the repo to get it where i want, but will probably write a leaflet soon on making moderation work for people that are not Bluesky PBC. hoping that this will be a good step in that direction.
