As I get older I actively squash most "the old days were better" feelings like they're intrusive thoughts, but the old internet was an objectively better place, full of actual people making things just for the joy of creation. I'm understanding now why older generations don't stfu about the 1960s.

It's good that they do, but I hope they're left to explore it on their own terms. Some people can be really frickin' weird about how younger people 'should' interact with retro tech. And with some of it, hacked consoles and ROMs are the only way of playing games due to the cost of some classics.

So I started Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D in earnest and I really don’t like how you fight multiple enemies at once now. The one-on-one fights were part of the identity of that game and it just feels off. Still looks and sounds incredible though.
