I missed it earlier. This is very good & I'm glad to see Dem governors taking the lead. We still have a federal system, all. State execs (governors) have an important role to play in the Dem party. How the Democrats Can Play Offense on Immigration

How the Democrats Can Play Offense on Immigration
Typically, Democrats run for the hills when immigration comes up. But as two blue-state governors are showing, the winning play is actually to confront ICE and MAGA xenophobia head on.

Absolutely disgusting to dismiss people’s trauma like this. Until very recently, and perhaps even now, there have been bulletholes from the shooting in the building where the attempted mass murder of CDC employees occurred. “What you’re going through is normal”?? NOTHING about this is normal.

The problem with so much of the thinking around Democrats right now is that its largely based on the right wing assumption that Dems are just mindless NPCs with zero agency. A lot of Republicans are going to find out the hard way the next generation of Dems is not going to be as forgiving

There's also the fact many of the candidates DSA/leftists are pushing either hold abhorrent views (Chevalier and her opinions on Ukraine and interracial relationships) or show signs of being bad people (Platner). Some of us don't want such people steering the party,

There is also the obvious problem that this is going to be an absolute nightmare to properly enforce and age verification systems tend to be incredibly easy to cheat if you know what you are doing. Remember how the 18th Amendment getting rid of alcohol didn't solve crime it just made things worse.

Again with the fallacy claiming opposing Trump is the only thing Democrats are offering. Democrats have always had a good policy agenda and leftist DSA clowns are the ones who keep dismissing Democratic plans because to the DSA, the perfect is always the enemy off the good.

This is indeed the case and it's perhaps not gotten as much attention as it should. The lower courts are bordering on open mutiny to an unprecedented degree, and it's not just Democratic appointees. The Supreme Court's perceived legitimacy is in freefall *within the federal judciary.*

Trump is doing us the favor of showing us everything we don't want. Was there a problem with fireworks nights? No. This is all an intentional cycle of Trump's inability to brook civic criticism leading to a crackdown demanding that everything suck because Trump is sad that everyone hates him.

President Biden imposed sanctions on illegal settlers. Donald Trump, who has an illegal settlement in the Golan Heights named for him, lifted sanctions on illegal settlers during the first week of his term. We are supposed to believe there was no difference between them on this issue.

The big issue with left-wing antisemitism, and the reason it's vital to discuss this and root it out, is that it completely invalidates every single left-wing argument about inclusivity, diversity, morality, and principles. Why would anyone trust anything else you say if you allow and excuse this?

Congress "could commandeer" agencies? Wth does that even mean? Congress *created* the agencies, sets out their mission and authorities in statute, and appropriates money to do or to not do specific things. Whatever it is, it aint the US Constitution.

As I write here, it's totally incoherent to immunize the president from prosecution on the theory that he can be held accountable through the political process — and then to suppress the information that might allow Congress and the public to actually hold him accountable.

One of the most nefarious effects of the far-right conspiratorial bullshit about supposed persecution of Afrikaners is it obscures that the actual viscerally dangerous racism in SA right now unites Black and White racists in hatred of non-SA African immigrants, especially Zimbabweans + Mozambicans.
