Vibe coding broke people's brains because they had a bad understanding of the software design process. The pop culture model goes something like this: start out with a sketch and then render that same idea in progressively finer detail. So when tools could "skip" to high detail, people went WOW.

What happens to Square / Block Android OSS projects post layoffs? Let's start with some context OSS at Square is mostly a happy accident. Jack hired Bob, who's job was attracking world class engineers, and he did that through talks & OSS.

From a colleague: The anti-pattern is a `PLAN.md` that says "we will do X" when the code already does Y. Plans live in conversations; outcomes live in artifacts. Full up-front planning never worked in software development, agentic coding won't change that

Shit the prophecy is true Heed the whispers of the Fates. When the season's champion is sought, the Crimson Bird shall take flight toward the sun, or the Red Trident shall pierce the heavens. The sky is not wide enough for both. As one soars, the other shall be cast in the shadow of mediocrity.

The single biggest unlock I've had with AI coding assistants is the planning step. In an OpenAI's DevDay talk,
@aaronfriel.bsky.social
mentions his "ExecPlan" approach. I know the term game-changer is thrown a lot (esp. with AI written posts) but folks... this is a game-changer.
