It's never occurred to me until now, but there's really strong parallels between this and the commentary in War of the Worlds. "Oh? You've got better guns and like using them to do a colonialism on people? Well what happens when someone with even better guns does a colonialism on *you*?"

A finished movie is a miracle. (Kudos to the author for explaining that “reshoots” or “additional photography” is a completely normal part of the process for movies like this, and is NOT evidence of a debacle-in-progress.)

This movie was the first free screening I went to when I moved to LA and, unbeknownst to me, it turned out to be the premiere with Black and some of the cast present watching with us. So imagine the energy in the room when most of us knew early on that we were watching a massive piece of shit.
