Been using @heron.tunji.dev with blacksky and haven't had much an issue. it's damn sure dead of your not following a bunch of people from it tho.

Fun fact, heron has a local database so I had no idea bluesky was down bc I had so many posts cached past where in was anchored on the TL 😌

In under a week of indexing standard.site documents on the Heron AppView, I'm at about 1.5 million docs and most are from web.brid.gy accounts. I wonder how to handle these.

Part of building this was building Heron's very own AppView to hydrate documents with publications and subscriptions. heron.tunji.dev is well and truly in the atmosphere now :)

@standard.site hi hi! Would you say standard site is for largely writing, or can it encompass longform content in general, say maybe podcasts? I'm building an RSS importer, and realized a user feed could try to import podcasts. Would an import of one pollute the namespace?

found my bsky password for this. really silky smooth after 5 seconds of initial loading (jvm warmup?). somehow video playback works despite not using libvlcj, which i thought was impossible but im not a java person so i wouldnt know. this is so interesting and cool

It'd be really nice if the listRecords XRPC call had arbitrary filters. I'm working on adding @standard.site support to heron, and it'd be nice to be able to list documents for a publication. Atm I can just fetch them from a user's pds regardless of publication.

@pfrazee.com there's currently a app.bsky.feed.defs#contentModeVideo Def which is used for video only feeds. Could we have a app.bsky.feed.defs#contentModeMedia for media only feeds? There are so many well curated feeds that have photos or videos exclusively that would benefit from this.

2D scrolling on Heron is one of my favorite features. There are so many amazing nature photographers on here and the right layout really helps make the content pop.

@heron.tunji.dev is my fave social media app rn.

Trying something fun with the Heron gallery: support for 2D scrolling. It will be available in feeds where all the posts have media, like a profile's photos or videos, or special media only feeds like videos or some made on @graze.social.

Also, we probs need a standard.site equivalent for music on ATProto for apps that want to integrate with @rocksky.app, @teal.fm and similar music based apps.

With Moltbook taking of as it is, and the folks at Meta wanting to put AI profiles everywhere, atproto labelers are more important than ever. Knowing who or what you're interacting with is so important in building trust and feeling safe.

The latest Heron update is rolling out with a few improvements: You can now mute specific words and accounts, or block accounts. You can now choose who can reply to your posts. Added a trending ticker to the home page. Added cute animations for liking and bookmarking posts.
