My comp copy of a new Shade omnibus has arrived, so it must be out soon. It’s mostly Chris Bachalo goodness, but I drew 3 issues too back in 1994(!). Lots of good process stuff too.

I loved this and wish more comics took these kind of wild swings on truly creative concepts. Worth the read.

I found this 1978 PEPE GONZALEZ art book online and I had to get it immediately! Never enough PEPE art in this house 😍😍😍 It collects some comic stories (Vampirella, Pamela, Herma and more) plus a pinup gallery. So good!

I loved Negative Burn from the start, and have them all. It was strange, daring, rough, unsettling, and always odd and interesting stuff inside. Some expiriments landed, some didn't, but I was such a treat watching comics as pure punk rock. Fingers crossed. bleedingcool.com/comics/the-r...

Always a fun read. It's consistently been one of the most fun reads for a, few years now. Plus, I really dig the art style.

This book started with a shock, and just keeps ratcheting up the tension. You know things are going to go bad, but it feels like they are going to be so much worse than that. It's a deliciously crafted slow burn, beautifully crafted in all ways.

I grabbed a copy of Fujimoto's Look Back. I already saw the anime movie, so this was a bit of an indulgence. Don't sleep on either. It's a deeply personal work about creativity and regret. It's from '21, but it's in my top reads of this year.

If anyone is not aware of Illustrators, it is a phenomenal series of long-form articles about some of the best Illustrators in the industry throughout history. A real treat to read, and a wonderful resource for anyone studying the greats of the field.

Ugh. I tried to listen to John Suntress's "interview" with "Annie" AI about comics on Word Baloon. It's a revolting slog through exactly what is horrifically wrong with the entire AI 'character' interface. Simpering, snivelingly, inauthenticity. Uncanny valley affectation, and regurgitated pablum.
