Starting to kick around ideas for the bold version of Project Sacramento.

Running out the clock today as I get ready for my vacation. It's pretty quiet, so I'm cleaning the studio and futzing around with smaller design projects. I'm ready for a break. Hope you folks have a good holiday. While I will check email occasionally, I won't officially be back to work until 1/5.

I discovered that to get the most accuracy out of Illustrator's autotrace, the smaller the file size of the raster image, the more accurate the vector will be. e.g. An 11x17" TIF at 600ppi, will vectorize like garbage. If you chop it into quarters, you'll get much better results.

Anyone have any suggestions for auto-tracing raster images to vector with extreme accuracy/minimal clean up? I'm just about fed up with Illustrator's auto-trace. Thanks.

Update on Project Sacramento: I have a complete A-Z set that I'm reasonably happy with. Haven't decided yet if I should release the sentence-case version or the all caps version first.

Lovely day. So far, I've finished the first of a new set of custom fonts for a client and sent them proofs. Playing a ST:TNG marathon in the studio today (season 4).

Progress on this black & gold “Fat Strat” build! Just electronics left to wire up! All Fender American parts except for the hand-made Fralin pickups!

Today has been one of those weird/wonderful days working in comics. Got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize. Ignored it. Turned out to be a legendary comics artist I've been reading since I was a teenager. Took me about a hour to figure it out and call them back.

Merry Christmas to me. 2025 was the 40th anniv. of one of my favorite guitar manufacturers, PRS. To celebrate, they produced a short run (800 total/probably about 200 in this finish, satin Vintage Natural with open grain) of these swamp ash CE-24s. This one is on its way to me!

Update on Project Sacramento: Still lots of experimenting going on. I'm not 100% happy with some of these letter yet, (A, D, G, O, R) but it's still early. Lots may change. The "S"s have already changed quite a bit since last you saw them.

Blast from the past! The original Blambot studio was a cramped little spare bedroom. These pics are from about 2002(?), right about the time that I quit my day job to do comics full time. Here I am, 23 years younger, about 50 pounds heavier, and with a head of hair!
