This was at least the third time I've read Uncle Sam and it was definitely the time it lingered with me the longest. In the past I think I focused on things more literally (character, plot, narrative) whereas this time I was more captivated by symbolism and what they signified.

So I walked down to the post office to see what happened to this package that never arrived and it turns out the reason it was tagged as "Left with Individual" is because it *was* handed to someone, just the wrong person because the mail carrier delivered it to the wrong address.

Here's an odd case where Siegel & Shuster's creation Dr. Occult, who debuted in DC's New Fun #6 (1935), appeared in another company's comic The Comics Magazine #1 (5/1936) but slightly renamed Dr. Mystic, The Occult Detective; and the storyline was later continued back in DC's More Fun #14 (10/1936)

Two volumes in and I'm absolutely loving Tower Dungeon by Tsutomu Nihei. It's interesting because the premise is so simple (dungeon quest to save the princess) but the execution is so effective.

Took a beautiful fall walk around Lake of the Isles today. Made it back to the car just before it got dark!

Here's a Ditko oddity I forgot I had: the first appearance of The Missing Man in a backup story from Captain Victory and the Galactic Rangers #6.

Another feature I wasn't aware Ditko worked on: the story "The Faceless Ones" which ran as a backup across Warp #2–4 from First Comics in 1983. I especially like that third page with the dramatic lighting and simple coloring.

I knew Ditko did work for Marvel, DC, Charlton, and Warren, but I never realized he illustrated several issues of Archie Comics' Red Circle revival of The Fly in the 1980s. The man did so much incredible work and I'm still learning about it.
