As if I didn't already have enough to sort through, my dad stopped over today to drop off some old stuff of mine they found still at their house. I only remember one of these comics from my childhood so I think the others are ones he got for my kids at HPB when they were young.

The hot topic at today's all-hands was a.i. again. Many employees forcibly pushed back, giving specific cases of it not working & pointedly asking why it's being hyped. Management's answer? A lame combination of the "it's already out there" & "we don't want to be left behind" excuses/talking points.

Finished Andor S1 last night & honestly I find the scenes w/Empire internal politics the most dramatically engaging (perhaps because getting back to SW's roots so many of the actors are talented UK thespians). Disney should do a series focused on the back-stabbing bad guys à la Sopranos/Succession.

I'd already read the story "The Devil's Doorway" by Jack Oleck & Alex Toth from House of Mystery #182 in Showcase Presents Vol. 1 but this is a story where the art really benefits from the bold, garish colors. I still have a couple days left in my cancelled Disney subscription but I'm not sure I'll even use it as the app is garbage. Last night the image would go dark during the ad breaks & then show a small ad over the show, which was 100% dark. And today it would freeze after the ads were over.

With autumn arriving, I need to know where I can get this kickass cloak.

FYI in case this applies to others: I got 2024's Disney & Hulu Black Friday deal & thought it expired later this year around Thanksgiving but it turns out the deal was for a reduced monthly rate, so I was able to cancel my subscription today, two months earlier than expected & I let them know why.

Has anyone else noticed that the covers on DC'S recent Limited Collectors' Edition facsimile editions don't fully cover the pages inside? You can see the newsprint pages poking out at the top and bottom of the books. It's especially noticeable with the Batman's Strangest Cases tabloid.

Bummed that we never got a Creeper/Shadow team-up from DC when they had the rights to the character. They could've even thrown in their mutual pal Batman to boost sales!

Informed Delivery question: do package pre-shipments drop off the dashboard after a certain amount of time? I had an item that was added two weeks ago but sat in "label created" status the whole time but today it no longer shows as one of my scheduled deliveries.

My daughter watched X-Men: First Class with some friends and they're all very invested in Magneto and Professor X's "low key gay relationship." They want me to recommend some comics that explore that dynamic but I'm drawing a blank. Any suggestions?

This week's Workout Watch was Rideback. It held my interest through all 12 episodes but now I'm wishing the manga were translated into English as I assume the longer format would allow it to develop things that felt too pat in the anime.

Imagine if the Amazing World of Superman theme park had actually been built.

A very small thing but it made me happy so sharing it here: It turns out I was looking at the wrong shelf that's stuck in place on my IKEA bookcase so I was able to adjust things so all my Showcase volumes are near each other. My anal-retentive nature is so relieved!

Here's a team-up I'd love to see: Black Cat (Linda Turner) and Elasti-Woman (Rita Farr), two heroes who learned a wide range of applicable skills thanks to their time in the movie industry.

One benefit of doing book cleanup is finding items that got lost in the shuffle. While organizing I found that I had several volumes of Asadora buried in different stacks, so now I have a big chunk of unread Urasawa manga to enjoy all at once!

Tonight on Bluesky After Dark: Gray Morrow's Vaginella.

Enjoyed Deadpool/Batman a lot more than I expected. There was only one story I thought was a waste but all the others were fun even if they were short. (In fact the one I enjoyed the most was the shortest: the Rocket Raccoon/Green Lantern "cultural exchange" was a hoot & it was only two pages long.)
