I would argue that American horror is making somewhat of a comeback since "Get Out" got released. Prior to that good American horror movies were few and far between. Asia, Europe and Australasia was were it was at.

Mangroves, vital for protecting coastlines and storing carbon, are making an unexpected comeback due to increased legal protections and public awareness of their importance. Since 2010, the rate of mangrove loss has slowed down, with more forests being restored than destroyed.

NEW from me: China’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions grew by 2% in the first quarter of 2026, with power sector emissions rising 4%, after a rise in the amount of “wasted” wind and solar power. Emissions remain below the peak in early 2024.

I would also note this is another example why GDP sucks as an indicator. It would be better for the GDP to pay 5000 birr for driving 400 km than 500 birr. The end product is the same but the cost 10 times less. GDP barely registers such stuff (only via inflation but not entirely).

Americans really seem to be absolutely oblivious how backwards USA is in the field of banking... European innovation (with key input from Africa BTW) in banking solutions / applications make visiting the USA seem like wandering some 20 years into the past. Venmo/GooglePay are poor man's EU tools.
