Casual reminder that a bill must pass *both* the House and the Senate (and get signed by POTUS) to become law. The DHS / ICE appropriations bill passed the House. It still needs to pass the Senate with 60 votes. That vote will be *NEXT WEEK* Call your Senators.🔥📞🔥

So the House is going to vote TOMORROW on the DHS funding bill that includes funding for ICE. There's a real chance we can get Dems to vote NO on any bill with ICE funding to sink it. Once it goes to the Senate we likely lose this chance. 24 hours. Go.

But the bigger reason that you should write and make art, is that your work is someone else's respite. You don't know who they are. They may be someone in the future. But if you have escaped into a book, or a painting, or a TV show... Someone created that. You can do that for someone else.

If you're a writer, wondering why you should bother writing with the world on fire. It feels like it's not important, I need you to understand that it is. Even if it is just because it keeps you moving forward? Even if it only brings YOU joy, that gives you energy to fight & survive.

hey! are you doomscrolling? Small efforts can still have big impacts. Remember how good it feels to eat something when you're really hungry? The power of someone's encouragement? Or a compliment from a stranger? There are lots of things you can do to help yourself and other people. Keep going.

When things feel pointless, remember the small things that make a difference in your life, then do them for yourself and others. A high protein meal. A big glass of water. Taking meds. A compliment or word of thanks. A long walk outside. I see how hard you're trying. Little things still matter.

Hi! Have you had a high protein meal today? Taken your meds? Drank liquids other than coffee? Contacted a local elected official? It's understandable to struggle with compartmentalizing the latest horrors to be productive enough for the sake of capitalism. Take a deep breath. One thing at a time.

Every bit of good and kindness matters. Every time you call your reps. Every time you share resources. Every person you cheer on. Every friend you cheer up. When you make soup for a family member or put a card in the mail. It all matters. Nothing is impossible, because we’re not doing this alone.
