When much the City’s self-described “savings and efficiencies” include deferrals of capital investments as well as reduced fuel costs resulting from the elimination of the Carbon Tax, it’s more accurate to call it “cost avoidance” and “blind luck”.

An odd oversight in Canadian cannabis legalization: there's no cannabis bars or other establishments where you can hang out and get stoned in company. No cannabis third places. And no legal framework for them either?!

I swore an oath to the Constitution in 1986. I've upheld it through 25 years of service and every day since I retired. If Trump's trying to intimidate me, it won’t work. I’ve given too much to our country to be silenced by bullies who care more about power than the Constitution.

The Ottawa city government and

are not a serious government. They are a clown show masquerading as a government. This is all in an effort to appease about 20 millionaires who can't possibly pay any extra city taxes, for services they don't use..

I have a fun hypothetical for the technical among us! (For certain values of fun, heh.) The scenario: You run a website. It doesn't have a mobile app: the only way to access it is in-browser. You are deeply, morally opposed to any form of invasive tracking or data-gathering on your users.

Arguing with JD Vance feels like taking the bait but still: 1. Per capita GDP is not a measure of "standard of living" 2. US GDP/capita is highly skewed by the outlier ultra-wealthy 0.01% class 3. Canadians, as a median, earn more money, work fewer hours, and live longer than Americans

People who use this technology do not want to be taught about a topic; they want the end result of having learned, without learning. I would guess for many this describes a feature, not a bug, of the technology.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features." There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

I want to very gently say something, and I hope nobody will be mad: If somebody on the internet says something that is NOT about politics and NOT about how terrible everything is, it’s a kindness not to reflexively make a comment (in jest or not) that brings it back to those things.
