There's been a number of speakers at the protest already this morning; community organizer Chela Garcia just concluded her own remarks. She acknolwedged Renee Good, while also eulogizing Silverio Villegas González. "Silverio's life mattered," she said.

The crowd continues to grow. A chant of "Fuck ICE!" goes up. A few moments later, people shout out the name of Silverio Villegas González, whom an ICE agent shot and killed just a few miles from here - in the suburb of Franklin Park - last September.

Huge win here by @aclu.org. Similar to a court order we and our partners obtained recently in Chicago in a similar case. It's important not just because of the order itself, but because it creates a forum for accountability for federal officers who violate it who can now be held in contempt.

Just listened to Loveless for the first time in years. I think I needed to hear something comforting but also as disorienting as life feels right now.

Snuck out between conf calls to join neighbors holding signs above I-290. Some came for an hour, some for 10 min. Many affirming honks from motorists. As others have eloquently put it, what is the "one more thing" you can do today? It all counts. Let's make this the beginning of the end.

You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today. This could be you.

This is happening in Oak Park, at least, and I would encourage this act of solidarity elsewhere.
