I've long been a proponent of introducing football style qualifying to the T20 World Cup, if only to be able to talk about England facing a tricky midweek qualifier on an artificial pitch in Prague.

This isn't to say that associates must be competitive to justify their place. After all, full members never seem to have their place questioned when they're uncompetitive (looking at you England sides in Australia). Inclusive World Cups are good, whether there are 20 competitive teams or just a few.

I like how every two years at a T20 World Cup everyone goes “wow the associate cricket teams are much better than we thought, we should do more to assist their development and grow the global game” and then nothing changes

Four associate v full member games so far and the associate member has been competitive in all four.
