I really hate anti-trans politicians, and I especially hate it because it was a culture war issue where we were clearly winning and then a bunch of nominally liberal people at the Times and the Atlantic decided to reverse that and they did.

I don't know if the constitution has failed us, but I sure know these conglomerations of pathetic worms in the shape of men have failed the constitution. If the constitution is broken, it is quite literally because the founders could not conceive of men so spineless. It never occurred to them!

Oh FFS. "I don't know the answer to that." YES YOU DO, you damned, unpatriotic coward. You are the Senate majority leader! The Constitution says your house (and the other one) has to vote yes. So if you think the answer should be no, THE ANSWER IS NO.

This is a fucking stitch up, come the fuck on. Some bastard knew what would happen. Maybe not exactly what, but they knew *something* would happen, and they wanted the world to see it. They've thrown John, and everyone with coprolalia, under the bus, and caused harm to black viewers as well.

So the BBC promised Davidson and StudioCanal (who made I Swear) that any swearing tics would be edited out from broadcast, and instead they left them in despite a two hour delay, and even put a fucking microphone right in front of him to ensure they picked it up - he was sat at the back of room.

Tourette syndrome activist John Davidson says Bafta told him ‘any swearing would be edited out of the broadcast’
Davidson said he ‘can’t begin to explain how upset and distraught I have been’ over slurs he shouted during the award ceremony

What’s really striking in Saruman’s speech to Gandalf is how broadly (and unusually for Tolkien) relevant it is. Take out the one specific reference to the Elves and Númenor and it is just an absolute classic rationale for collaborating with evil in the confidence you can ultimately direct it.

The truth is that this is a very common reaction to mental illness. People say they're supportive and compassionate to those afflicted until their affliction is unpleasant or repulsive- afterwards, they accuse those suffering of malingering to "get away with" that behavior.

We then turn around and scream at the Mexican government to kill the cartels we just finished building into professional private military companies. Then comes the news.

I just really struggle with the image of giving an award to the actor who played the disabled man struggling to find social acceptance… and then excluding the man himself, because you think his disability is unacceptable. It’s almost parable-like in its precise depiction of false acceptance

The real question is will all the “leftists” mad about a guy with Tourettes daring to show his face in public decide society needs Victorian asylums but woke, or will they decide that’s too carceral and go for the anarchist option of killing the disabled via exposure as the Greeks once did

Right, fine, I'll weigh in on the Discourse: Tourettes is a real neurological condition and setting your blood to boil over someone with Tourette's displaying the symptoms of their disease in public is essentially saying that someone with Tourette's shouldn't have a public life.

This is really where I am- someone with Tourette's can't control what they say in their fits. A broadcaster who has two hours to go in there and slap any kind of censorship over the racial epithet but who chooses not to is making a very conscious choice.

There is a frequent misreading of strategic dynamics around anti-cartel operations that assumes they are about eliminating narcotics sales. Most security officials are more realistic than that but still believe it is essential to ensure that the state remains more powerful than organised crime.

From the same Western hypocrisy that "uninvites" Palestinians for saying "please stop doing genocide", Israeli man saying "let's do genocide" is such a victim given a nice proper portrait picture. Doesn't he look decent? Really it was just 100,000 Palestinians he wanted murdered.
