Yes, CECOT is a concentration camp in the guise of a prison. The Venezuelans were the first people to *ever* be released from CECOT since Bukele opened the prison in January 2023. Seriously. The first.

60 minutes CECOT segment. Recorded through my browser. HD quality. Not phone. Spread it around. If you're press, it's yours. Go nuts. It's streaming on a Canadian website, but there is no telling for how long.

This most recent episode exemplifies what I'm talking about. The memo she wrote justifying her spiking the CECOT story is the kind of thing that could have actually worked *if she'd been on top of things to intervene early in the process*.

Becoming slowly Arnade-pilled as I realize that these guys who went straight from prep school to Harvard to full time DC punditry just fundamentally don't view people outside their social circles as real people with real lives and real concerns

Right, the biggest flaw with WAR is that it's being applied to binary election outcomes. Casten's seat is probably D +7-9, the marginal value of him being D +3 vs R +3 is very low. It's like insisting sac flies are low EV when there's a runner on third and no outs in the bottom of the tenth.

Also, "wins above replacement" is not endogenous in politics. Members in safer districts are expected to take riskier positions.

Just popped over to Twitter and they're deep into a fight over "Heritage Americans" and if it's acceptable to gesture vaguely at one of your 512 ancestors or you have account for all of your greatx7 grandparents or if the designation is based on whether your last name sounds anglo enough

The thing about Vance is that he has none of Trump's natural comic energy. He is profoundly awkward when attempting to make a joke. It's not just a physical thing either - his Twitter humor also falls very short.

"LLMs can't do anything" is a fringe dead-ender position in a world where people are already using LLMs for everything from home decor suggestions to writing wedding vows. "LLMs can't produce novel insights" is an argument for a hypothetical world where the average person needs many novel insights.

Honestly one of the reasons I like BlueSky is I enjoy being yelled at by stupid tankies more than I enjoy being yelled at by stupid Nazis. But if you post under your Real Name, the death threats are a lot harder to deal with obviously

The history of "Judeo Christian" terminology is actually pretty fascinating. It originated as a social justice ("woke") term in the 1920s and 30s as a way to include Jewish and Catholic immigrants and push back against Protestant nativism (including the Klan). But ofc now it's used differently.

This is a nesting doll of stupid. Bob is wrong that "it's fine", the photos of dinner example is also stupid, "if rude criticism stops you from making art, you shouldn't be making art" is stupid, and the idea that people use AI because they want to "be artists" is also stupid.

Like you'd expect to see UCSB comp sci grads living on the street and instead their first five names I saw for 2025 grads were small tech company, Meta, big tech company, Boeing, Amazon
