Trump is the natural progression of the Democratic Party electing Barack Obama president, which triggered a realignment finishing the Civil Rights realignment between the parties. 1/3 NYT (1995): “Clinton Embraces a Proposal To Cut Immigration by a Third”:

She supports CECOT so she is clearly evil. She cancelled an expose of CECOT to curry favor with the administration so she is clearly corrupt. She did not understand the basic mechanics of cancelling it so she is clearly incompetent. These are not priors or biases: we are watching it in real time.

NEW: By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocks Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to assist immigration agents. A majority holds that he likely lacks authority to do so. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent.

My take on why the heritage American thing is a real thing is that america has not had to go to war to protect itself in nearly a century. yes Iraq and Afghanistan could be viewed as existential threats but were not on the same level as ww2 or civil war. cause of that no one really feels heroic

This is definitely the letter that was sent and returned to sender and found in the prison's mailroom (reported on in 2023) It seems implausible someone would fake it unless he was already dead, but that's not what the timing suggests. He was alive when this was mailed. It was probably him.

This Lithuanian national wants to be deported. Lithuania is ready to take her. Instead, she was detained by ICE for overstaying a visa waiver in February and she's *still being held*. These morons can't even deport people who want to be deported.

An American man fell in love with a woman from Lithuania. ICE detained her. The couple thought she'd be deported right away. They were wrong.

Yes, CECOT is a concentration camp in the guise of a prison. The Venezuelans were the first people to *ever* be released from CECOT since Bukele opened the prison in January 2023. Seriously. The first.

This most recent episode exemplifies what I'm talking about. The memo she wrote justifying her spiking the CECOT story is the kind of thing that could have actually worked *if she'd been on top of things to intervene early in the process*.

Right, the biggest flaw with WAR is that it's being applied to binary election outcomes. Casten's seat is probably D +7-9, the marginal value of him being D +3 vs R +3 is very low. It's like insisting sac flies are low EV when there's a runner on third and no outs in the bottom of the tenth.

"LLMs can't do anything" is a fringe dead-ender position in a world where people are already using LLMs for everything from home decor suggestions to writing wedding vows. "LLMs can't produce novel insights" is an argument for a hypothetical world where the average person needs many novel insights.

I really enjoyed Twitter until sadly posting under my real name led to Nazi death threats. It doesn't quite feel the same here but it is as good as I think it'll get.

Honestly one of the reasons I like BlueSky is I enjoy being yelled at by stupid tankies more than I enjoy being yelled at by stupid Nazis. But if you post under your Real Name, the death threats are a lot harder to deal with obviously
