As an author, I treat the boneyard as a resource. Its gravestones are lithic library. Rarely will I walk its paths without being gifted a character's name, a tale to tell. It whispers to me. The dead desire to talk and it would be rude to ignore them. โ

This feels weird. A lot of reporting is sounding very much like "how long will this take to get back to normal" when there's no sign in the short term that normality will return at all It's like 2020 Covid reporting

Spain invested heavily in clean energy over the last 6 years. Now, as gas prices rise, Spain has some of the lowest electricity costs on the continent. In August 2025, Spain used zero coal โ just 10 years ago it powered 25% of the country. This is what energy independence actually looks like. ๐

Am I crazy, getting ahead of myself, or is the Iran war already shaping up to be systemically significant? Unless the US gets a military victory or clear concessionsโnot looking goodโthen Iran keeping Hormuz closed breaks the post-WWII US military dominance in the Gulf, with wide reverberations.

just some quick napkin math on this, $375 million is 0.18% of meta's reported 2025 revenue of $200.97 billion, or 0.62% of meta's reported 2025 profit of $60.46 billion. $375 million is the maximum penalty allowed by law. the system just like, fundamentally doesn't work lol

It is quite telling that since the horrific story of Cesar Chavez re: sexual abuse broke earlier this week and calls to change the names of schools and other public spaces named in his honor, not one conservative voice has stepped forward to object that this would be tantamount to erasing history.
