Can we also stop with the whole "No Farmers No Food" narrative, which I think a lot of "rural America is pure and wholesome" springs from? Industrial farms make our economy possible but so do the people who make sure our kitchen appliances don't catch on fire.

my scientists say to me, mr president, we got the best medbeds in the world. i saw on tv they recreated a woman from just her hand. beautiful woman by the way, it’s amazing what science can do. then the channel switched to a loud talk show host on a cruise. i didn’t care for him

what frustrates me is how ahistorical it is it makes me think of the magnificent Execution of Torrijos painting: liberal soldiers coming to terms with their imminent execution for fighting against absolutist monarchy. liberalism cannot be taken for granted, it is something we must fight for

One of my biggest bugbears is the classist opinions that a *wide* swath of American hold about manufactured housing (i.e. mobile homes, trailers). Manufactured homes are Good Actually and we should repeal laws that discriminate against them.

In the US, private jets are subsidized to the tune of $1 billion annually by commercial air passengers because of the unjust structure of the Federal Aviation Administration’s fees. In essence, the US aviation system is structured to prioritize the least efficient, most polluting form of travel.

not that I want to be calling SEPTA's bluff but cutting the Paoli line is just playing politics, right? It's their highest ridership RR line. Are Amtrak's fees really that high that it negates the highest fairbox recovery in the system?

I hear a lot about how big tech apparently funds YIMBYism but I really do not think that “major Bay Area employers want to reduce Bay Area housing costs so they can hire and retain workers more easily” is the outrageous scandal that people make it out to be.

Construction has begun on NYC's "deliverista hub," converting an abandoned City Hall newsstand into a place for workers to charge their batteries, access resources, and park their bikes. The hub will be a small piece of a larger patchwork of city infrastructure these 80,000 plus workers rely on.

The DNC needs to rein this stuff in because letting it continue (a) risks burning out its small dollar donors and (b) makes it harder for advocacy groups to reach our members and activate them around key votes.

I think the weirdest stadium in Canadian history is the Autostade in Montreal, home of the Montreal Alouettes from 1968-1976. Built for Expo 67 as a brutalist starburst of 19 separate concrete grandstands. Never seen another football stadium with this layout.
