Entirely unsurprising. When people reject the red racist party, the blue racist party and the light blue extremely racist party, the losers all accuse the greens of sectarianism. The idea that pandering to the far-right, billionaires and transphobia is being rejected doesn’t seem to even register.

I see the Greens are now being accused of "sectarianism" because they treated muslin voters as equally legitimate members of the constituency and actively sought their votes. This is being framed as an underhanded approach rather than something all the parties could have done but chose not to.

Less than 12 hours after Nadhim Zahawi of Reform UK tested the "Greens are weaponisng sectarianism" attack line on TV, the British PM is using the same rhetoric. Monoparty politics is real, Keir Starmer is not "a man of integrity" & the dismemberment of the Labour Party cannot come quickly enough.

Imagine having the brass balls to pay lawyers to say this with a straight face in a court and expecting to win. Just the layers of self-entitled delusion.

UK political journalists fail us badly by assuming votes not cast for the two historically dominant parties are *really* protest votes against those parties. This is outdated, insulting and very, very patronising. People can and do vote *for* the Greens, Plaid Cymri, Lib Dems, SNP, and yes Reform.

The Greens put up a candidate who was already a local politician and ran on a platform of representing the constituency. Reform put up a candidate who thought he deserved to be an MP so stood in the first available constituency nowhere near where he lives.

There's actually a serious point in this, which is that the Greens have yet to be electorally successful enough to attract the hordes of Oxbridge/Russell Group PP&E grads. Which means they at least have a chance of selecting candidates that feel more authentic on the doorstep.
