A fellow Labour Party member once described Wes Streeting to me as Zippy from Rainbow if he'd been radicalized by Mumsnet. which is a very specific set of references but also disturbingly accurate.

😂 Sam Coates makes an ABSOLUTE TIT of himself. Calls PM photos "fake news" then finds out they're from the Press Association. If you make a spurious, inflammatory point you never made about any official photograph before, to pitch yourself as the only reliable source, at a minimum check your facts.

Morally indefensible Politically insane Economically harmful The government's immigration policy is a catastrophe for the Labour party, a gift to its opponents on left and right, and really bad for the country. Starmer owns it entirely.

Fun fact: the magical child safety solution which Jess Philips cited in her resignation letter is a vendor-specific offering, which benefited from an intense PR and lobbying campaign, and was previously praised by ... Prince Andrew. I always keep the receipts.

I know there’s a lot going on with the Labour Party, but it is all in the bounds of democratic politics. This however, paid collusion between the leaders of two political parties in the run up to election, if true, is a scandal of staggering propositions

Starmer had an opportunity to be strategic with the EU in 2024 with his landslide majority. He had another opportunity this year, given the total geopolitical madness of the Trump Administration. He's squandered both. Let's hope his successor will be braver and go further

[I am not defending Polanski/Greens here - their response to well-publicised antisemitic statements by Green candidates has been lacking in several respects. But it is just disgusting to suggest that Farage/Reform are allies to Jews/against antisemitism and that the Greens are not]

A lot of the scepticism about the idea that someone in Labour should turn the next few years into a debate about the EU again forgets that this strategy really just amounts to 'telling the truth to voters about Brexit and suggesting that we act on it'. It's not some 4D Chess move.

Of the Green results in London, Waltham Forest has most got my attention. We knew they were a significant force in Hackney, Lewisham, Lambeth but WF was a sudden and very dramatic flip. Labour had seemed organisationally strong in Walthamstow in particular and it was rated as a good council.

There was a time when the ultra-wealthy in this country at least pretended to acknowledge their privilege and their luck. It helped fuel a sense of civil obligation. These days, however:

This/similar responses are just bizarre - assume that (as
@stephenkb.bsky.social
says) government/PM have no agency. Do they really think if PM posted "I/my govt won't post on platform that deliberately promotes Nazis, antisemitism & CSE" Westminster bubble wouldnt follow?
