It is not rocket science that developers who are paid/treated well and given creative control make better games. The people up top literally just don't care: they want their money for themselves.

and yet

They will often burn everything to the ground before giving into worker demands, even if those demands would make them more money.

The Game Awards cycle in a nutshell: Geoff Keighley pockets millions, executives rake in bonuses, shareholders see value increase, the projects get mismanaged... the workers get laid off and players are left disappointed. We deserve better.

Unionized game workers launch petition to protect immigrants from ICE agents

Something I have noticed while talking with people at GDC: A lot of people are worried about the state of the industry and its conditions, but a lot of them will not move. We are running out of time. We ARE out of time. Is this what scares you?

The enclosure of Yerba Buena Gardens didn’t stop us from leading a march to discuss our Game Workers’ Bill of Rights earlier this week — our way to fight for standardization across video game studios and employers that empower workers instead of breaking them down.

Every day there are new reports of ICE detaining and targeting our communities. Video game devs and the workers who keep our workplaces running are not safe from this. That’s why we’ve launched WE DON'T PLAY WITH ICE, a campaign demanding companies commit to becoming 4th Amendment Workplaces.

I was handing out UVW flyers earlier and a CEO told me AI was going to take my job. I should have told him yours first.
