Every time I see the way apparently some people research stuff for stories—basically just typing their exact question into google and getting mad when it doesn’t pop up immediately—them using ChatGPT for research makes more sense.

Relatedly, I am really sad at all the people who think research means typing their question in and if they don't find that exact answered served up neatly, they give up. Research involves reading a whole bunch of unrelated stuff and getting fuller context to the answer. It's fun and interesting.

There are a lot of people who resent the entire concept of subject matter expertise and believe that they, a person who read a breezy overview, know just as much and because they're a Great Thinker, should be trusted over actual experts.
