Welp. A recruiter contacted me directly on Tuesday for a contract job I really wanted. Emailed her back within 20 minutes with an updated resume from the last time we talked a year ago. Had already applied to the job on LinkedIn. And thenâŚnothing? Ghosted? I guess because of the employment gapâŚ?

These folks who don't want copyright after the life of the author...motherfucker, who do you think is deprived of quality time when we write the damn books? The sacrifice is not individual. That narrative is incorrect. Families/beneficiaries should be compensated too. Act like you know.

It's all the petty things about having a life partner that make being single so hard. Like I don't actually care about the Big things like love and permanent companionship and sharing a life with someone. But I want someone else to help mop and plan my birthday for me.

While I understand the skew modern ttrps have toward allowing players to do the exactly as they please in some way, itâs not really a âgameâ without restrictions and consequences for actions. Nothing wrong with making up stories with friends. No need to involve a game if you donât like them.

Relatedly, I am really sad at all the people who think research means typing their question in and if they don't find that exact answered served up neatly, they give up. Research involves reading a whole bunch of unrelated stuff and getting fuller context to the answer. It's fun and interesting.

There are a lot of people who resent the entire concept of subject matter expertise and believe that they, a person who read a breezy overview, know just as much and because they're a Great Thinker, should be trusted over actual experts.

and this is the key to rise of skywalker's crimes - it's not even trying to tell a story, it's not even trying to work within a coherent fictional universe the more you try to make it work the worse it gets it's not a good story told poorly, like the prequels - it's not really a story at all

star wars is full of plot holes and unexplained bullshit but usually it's the kind of stuff (kessel run, etc) that makes you excited to think about a possible explanation for it this? I don't want to think about this! the more I think about it the worse it gets! I don't want to play in this sandbox

we then throw out one of the actually interesting parts of TLJ - that Rey is a nobody who is incredibly powerful in the force Just Because - in order to retcon her into a Palpatine, because fuck you we've got to shrink this sandbox as much as humanly possible horrendous, cowardly choice

I think a lot of us were willing to see where they'd go with it because the new characters seemed neat - I certainly was - but it didn't work, because in order to make it work they effectively had to pretend most of the galaxy didn't exist star wars always felt huge, but the sequels felt small
