#mathstoday we looked at dividing decimals by writing the division as a fraction, finding an equivalent fraction with an integer in the denominator then carrying out the calculation. A method from @mathsjem.bsky.social in her book on mathematical methods.

Great Harris Inset today. I attended sessions on Casio CG100, A level marking and university entrance tests. All very helpful. Then I went out for drinks with my lovely team. I’m very pleased half term is here! I plan to catch up on a lot of sleep. 💤

Today my colleague accidentally pressed the little calculator button on her keyboard (which we’ve never even noticed before). The calculator menu that popped up is extensive! Graphing, date calculation (!), time, angles, volume…

Note that this is part of a wider move by the University of Oxford to use UAT-UK tests, and there will no longer be an Oxford-only test for any course. We're planning to continue to interview roughly three candidates per place for Mathematics and joint honours. ^James
