Teaching a gorgeous higher tier Year 10 group at the moment and today one of the girls came in and showed me the revision notes she’s been making at home between lessons 🤩 What a bloody brilliant job we have!

Catching up on #EducatingYorkshire and absolutely loving the correction of “No, it’s not ‘easy’… it’s well taught!” 🤣

In #MathsToday I did this as a starter on estimation. With the aim of getting pupils to consider which counters are the 'significant' ones.

Used @nathanday.bsky.social ’s sum-product(-difference-quotient) tables in an intervention session with Y10 in #MathsToday to support their factorisation of quadratics with negatives. Was really helpful to isolate the step of considering all the sign combos! 🤩 interwovenmaths.com/four-ops-tab...

I keep forgetting to take pictures of cool things we do in #mathstoday to share… so I’ve recreated on notes app 😂 Today Y10 were looking at expanding double and triple brackets and absolutely smashed it. So we spent the last 10 mins working “in reverse” as a taster for their next lesson…

Taught my first lesson of the year in #MathsToday! (Actually a cover lesson for a colleague at a family wedding!) Year 11, recapping algebra skills. Substitution. Generally happy until answers were things like 3/2 - suddenly felt they “couldn’t do it”, so we did lots more to convince them it’s OK!👌

Had a taster night at choir tonight. One of the newbies immediately recognised me 🤩 she was one of my first ever students in my NQT year! She’s now at uni and considering training to be a teacher herself (Music, not maths, but you can’t win them all!) Crazy!

Two weeks back at it now. And, honestly… This job is the best. 🤩 I’m absolutley exhausted. My brain is so full. 🤯 But it’s just the best… The students are amazing. My new colleagues are brilliant. Thinking hard about teaching and learning and then actually enacting it again has been phenomenal. 🤩🤩🤩

Amazing day at the #AstreaCurriculumDay! Was lovely to get to meet loads more of my new colleagues and to get into the weeds of using booklets for planning and teaching, and consider how we help students to think really hard. There’s even some professional photos of me in action!!
